David Best Dead after Copperopolis Pedestrian Accident

David R. Best has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred on March 10 in the former mining town of Copperopolis. Mr. Best, a 75-year-old resident of the town, was reportedly walking in the right side of Little John Road when a 1972 Chevrolet pickup truck struck and killed him. 34-year-old Joseph Rabeneau, another Copperopolis resident, was driving the pickup. He reportedly stopped at the scene and is working with authorities, who say they do not suspect a DUI. The investigation, however, continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
