Corey Haggerty has been identified by authorities as the victim in a motorcycle collision that occurred in Long Beach on January 7. Mr. Haggerty, a 25-year-old resident of nearby Lakewood, was driving a Honda CBR 600 motorbike on Lakewood Boulevard prior to the incident. At around 12:10 p.m., the Honda collided with Ford Explorer. The SUV was apparently in the process of changing lanes for a left turn when the accident occurred. The motorcyclist reportedly passed away at the site of the collision. The driver, a 49-year-old female Torrance resident, remained at the scene and cooperated and a DUI is not suspected, authorities say. They also indicate that the victim might not have had a license to drive the motorcycle. Witnesses are being sought in the case.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
