Christopher “CJ” Tousey has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run solo collision that took place in Orangevale on February 28. Mr. Tousey was one of five individuals in a recent model Volkswagen Passat being driven by Brandon D. Reyes-Langsjoen, 24, that was heading westward on Madison Avenue at 1:30 a.m. The car was travelling at approximately 80 miles per hour, 30 mph over the speed limit. Authorities allege that Cayleh A. Morrison, 22, apparently attempted to take control of the car by grabbing the steering wheel causing the car to go off the road and hit a fire hydrant, breaking a water main. Mr. Tousey was thrown from the vehicle and killed. Ms. Morrison was also injured and taken to an area hospital. Meanwhile, Mr. Reyes-Langsjoen allegedly fled the scene but allowed himself to be arreated the following day and is reportedly cooperating with the California Highway Patrol and may have apologized and confessed on social media. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run. Ms. Morrison has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
