Edgar Ernst has been arrested and charged on multiple counts, including DUI and vehicular manslaughter, in the death of a 64-year-old Marysville resident.
Yuba County, CA, May 4, 2021 — Brian Allen has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged DUI wrong-way collision that occurred on April 30 in Yuba County. Edgar Allan Ernst has been charged in connection with the deadly accident. Brian Allen, a 64-year-old resident of Marysville, was driving south on Highway 70 in a Kia Optima prior to 5:00 a.m. at the same time as Edgar Ernst, 38 and a resident of Rio Linda, was heading north in a 1990s model Honda Accord. Somewhere in the vicinity of Feather River Boulevard, information attributed to the California Highway Patrol alleges that Ernst’s Honda drove over the center divider and into the opposite lane, leading to the fatal crash. First-responders declared Brian Allen dead at the scene. Edgar Allan Ernst received minor injuries and authorities determined that he was under the influence at the time of crash. Authorities further allege that they found a pipe used for taking methamphetamines in the suspect’s car. Edgar Ernst has been arrested on multiple charges in connection with the deadly crash. An investigation is ongoing.
