Foggy conditions were present when a 24-year Chico resident when a Honda Accord collided head-on with a pickup truck driving in south in northbound lanes; the truck’s driver was also badly injured.
Sutter County, CA, January 18, 2022 — Billy Xiong has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in a car and pickup truck collision that occurred on January 17 in Sutter County. Billy Xiong, a 24-year-old, was driving a Honda Accord north on Highway 99. Reports attributed to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol, say that fog created low visibility. At around 1:55 a.m., authorities say that a Dodge 3500 pickup truck was heading south in the north lane when it collided with the Honda. First-responders arrived but Billy Xiong tragically died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 60-year-old San Jacinto resident, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
