Cotati, CA, November 19 — Augustus Staton has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred on November 16 in Cotati. Augustus Staton, a 55-year-old local resident, was out walking his dog near Helen Putnam Park at about 12:30 p.m. When and his dog were at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Macklin Drive, a commercial van struck him. First-responders arrived but the man died at the scene. The driver of the van stopped and cooperated with authorities, who do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor. The dog was not injured in the tragic crash. The Cotati Police Department is investigating to determine fault and if charges are to be filed
