A passenger was seriously hurt and the driver killed in solo crash that occurred on New Skyway in the vicinity of Pentz Road in an unincorporated area of Butte County.
Butte County, CA, April 7, 2021 — Anthony Monterroza has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a solo automotive collision that occurred on April 5 in the Magalia area of Butte County. Anthony Monterroza, a 23-year-old resident of Manteca, was driving with a passenger on New Skyway in the vicinity of Pentz Road prior to 4:00 p.m. Reports attributed to the California Highway Patrol say witnesses reported that the young man was attempting to negotiate a curve while driving at an excessive speed. First responders arrived but the young driver died at the scene from his injuries. The passenger, however, survived the impact with major impacts and the individual was taken to Enloe Hospital. The case remains under investigation.
