Anna Graves has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred August 20 in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Ms. Graves, a 58-year-old local resident, has stepped outside of Metro bus that had stopped near the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and 98th Street at about 11 p.m. She was reportedly in the crosswalk. Reports say that the woman saw two cars, an SUV and a Mercedes Benz CLK coupe and attempted to evade both. Instead she was reportedly struck by a mirror on the passenger side of the coupe. Ms. Graves died at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes reportedly continued driving and fled the scene. The driver of the SUV, which did not hit the woman, stopped at the scene. Authorities are seeking witnesses and a car which might have the driver’s side mirror broken off as the investigation continues.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
