Angelica Gonzalez has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in an alleged hit-and-run DUI collision that occurred on August 29 in Redondo Beach. Ms. Gonzalez, 30, was driving a Nissan Sentra near the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Vermont Avenue at about 11:50 a.m. when her car was hit by a recent model Dodge Ram pickup truck drive by Isaiah Lono, 19. First responders took the woman to UCLA Harbor Medical Center for treatment but she later tragically died from her injuries Authorities allege that Mr. Lono, who they say also goes by the alias Isaiah Portillo, had stolen the pickup from a repair shop. They further allege that the truck struck a number of other vehicles while speeding before striking the dead woman’s car. After the collision, the young man allegedly fled on foot only to be apprehended later. Police allege that Mr. Lono was under the influence of drugs or alcohol but he is not being charged with a DUI. He is being charged offenses ranging from murder to driving on a suspended license. He is being held at a facility in Los Angeles.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this very difficult time.
