Albert Arroyo and Margarita Arellano have been identified by authorities as the deceased in a traffic collision that occurred on July 3 in Lucerne Valley. At around 6:40 a.m., Mr. Arroyo, a 37-year-old Nuevo resident was driving a Nissan auto on Highway 18 with Ms. Arellano, 67, was his passenger. For reasons that have not been provided, the Nissan allegedly veered into the opposing lane where it collided with a vehicle described as a Mazda SUV, silver in color, heading west. The driver of the SUV, a 69-year-old local resident, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Three others were less severely injured and taken to another area medical center for treatment. The California Highway Patrol in Victorville is investigating the tragic crash and seeking out witnesses.
